Bernard Noël költő, esszéíró, kritikus és regényíró 1930-ban született. Első kötetével 1958-ban tűnt fel, utána közel tíz év hallgatás után jelent meg második könyve (1967). 1969-ben erkölcstelenség vádjával perbe fogták a „Le Château de Cène” c. műve miatt. Máig több, mint ötven könyve jelent meg, 1992-ben a „Grand prix national de poésie”, 2010-ben a „Prix Robert Ganzo” irodalmi díjjal tüntették ki.
