Es war einmal ein Schneiderlein Mit Nadel und mit Scher, Der liebt ein Mädel hübsch und fein So sehr, ach Gott, so sehr.
Er kam zu ihr in später Stund Und redt so hin und her, Ob er ihr etwa helfen kunnt Mit Nadel und mit Scher.
Da dreht das Mädel sich herum! »Oje, ojemine! Deine Nadel ist ja schon ganz krumm, Geh, geh, mein Schneider, geh!«
Der Schneider schrie: »Du falsche Dirn, Hätt' ich dich nie gekannt!« Er kauft sich einen Faden Zwirn Und hängt sich an die Wand.

Élt egy szabócska egykoron, Olló és tű vele. Szeretett, hej, egy lyánt nagyon, Jaj, de még mennyire!
Elment hozzá estefelé, S beszélt, beszélt: Netán Érte ezt-azt tehetne-é, Mi ollót s tűt kiván?
Hátát mutatja az a lyán: "Ég s minden szentjei! Vékony a tűd és görbe mán, Tűnj el, szabócska, menj te ki!"
S az mond: "Mire vagy jó, te nő, Te rusnya főkötő?" Egy szál cérnát vett ott elő, És magát főköté.
