Die Bettlerschale (German)Horch! das ist die leere Bettlerschale, halb aus Lehm noch, aber halb schon Stein und sie trommelt dir bei jedem Male Hungerlieder zwischen Brot und Wein.
Blick nicht weg und stelle dich nicht taub! Deine Zehen zucken längst schon lüstern, eigenmächtig tanzt in deinen Nüstern Bettler-Hochmut und verschmähter Raub.
Brich nur weiter das gelobte Brot! Es ist durch und durch schon angesäuert von dem Salz, das meine Augen scheuert und die Schale anzufüllen droht.
Wenn die Trommel plötzlich nicht mehr klingt, wird kein Mahl auf Erden dir mehr munden und dein Herz wird sich von selber runden in der Hand, die dich zum Betteln zwingt.

La ciotola del mendicante (Italian)Tendi l’orecchio, è la ciotola vuota del mendico, per metà ancora di fango, ma già mezza di pietra e a te ogni volta tamburella canti di fame tra pane e vino.
Non distogliere lo sguardo e non fare il sordo! Da tempo le tue dita sussultano vogliose, incontrollati ti ballan nelle froge superbia da mendico e furto disdegnato.
Continua solo a spezzare il pane lodato! In tutto e per tutto è già inacidito dal sale che mi fa sfregare gli occhi e minaccia di riempire la mia ciotola.
Quando il tamburo all’improvviso il suono smorza nessun pasto più sulla terra gusto avrà e il tuo cuore per moto proprio tondo si farà nella mano che al mendicar ti forza.
