Béres temető (Hungarian)
A legelőn túl, négy akác között
Licium védi a kis temetőt.
Márvány nem fénylik benne, semmi jel,
Kötésig érő csalán veri fel.
Csalán veri fel ezt a temetőt,
Mintha a holtak lelke még a föld,
A sir mélyén is rejtené magát,
Fortyogna, égne: kinlódna tovább.
Itt nyugszanak az ősök. A magos
Gazban az ifjú utas rátapos
Itt-ott egy dombra, rajt még a kereszt,
S rajta egy szép név: Énekes Ferenc.
Itt nyugszik minden őse. Légy dönög,
Arrébb, a törpe licium mögött
Csorda konog, ritkás kolomp szava
Mintha egy mély álomból hangzana.
Az ott az élet, tompa, hangtalan.
Ez itt a múlt. Néha egy nyugtalan
Tehén betéved a sírok közé,
Szaglász és felbőg a nagy ég felé. Uploaded by | P. T. |

Farm hand graveyard (English)
Past a pasture, a small graveyard nestles,
Wolfberry guards it between four wattles.
No shiny marble, no sign to be found,
Nettle-weed’s growing waist-high on the ground.
Nettle-weed covers the whole of the yard
As if beneath the souls would want to hide
Below the earth, within their grave's domain,
To suffer on and cry with burning pain.
His forebears rest here, tall weed abounds,
The young wanderer's stepping on the mounds,
A cross still standing, stops him to linger:
It bears the fine name of Francis Singer.
His forebears rest here. A bluebottle sang,
Behind dwarf wolfberries a cow-bell's clang,
A plodding herd: these random sounds, they seem
much like the sounds that inhabit a dream.
Here it's the past. There life is dull, no sound.
An apprehensive cow wanders around,
Loses her way among the graves nearby,
Then sniffs and lows towards the mighty sky.
